Theory & Musicianship
The department offers a four-semester sequence in both music theory and musicianship. These courses are required for music majors and are designed to prepare one for transfer into a university program. The theory sequence focuses on analytical skills and compositional techniques for common-practice periods and the 20th Century. The musicianship courses concentrate on sight-reading and dictation skills for the same periods.
